Kathy serves as Calibrate’s trusted advisor on diversity-related law firm business services searches. 

In this capacity, Kathy augments the Calibrate search team to provide her expertise on running a successful process and helping firms choose the best candidates for the role.

Kathy has been an executive search consultant since 2004 after spending six years as the Assistant Dean for Career Services at The University of Texas School of Law. Since founding HR Legal Search in 2006, she has been identifying and recruiting diverse attorneys and has become a market leader in this space. Kathy believes that everyone deserves to love their job, and she has spent her entire adult life facilitating rewarding career connections.

Today Kathy is a thought leader in the legal recruiting space and is frequently invited to speak on a myriad of topics in the industry including successfully recruiting and retaining diverse attorneys, compensation trends, law firm branding and business development, and work-life balance. Kathy’s vast network allows her to connect the right people with the best opportunities in the industry – not just attorneys.

A Diversity Leader

In addition to Kathy’s work in placing diverse talent, she is committed to dedicating her time fostering diversity in the broader industry, and in her community.  Kathy served on the Steering Committee of the Texas Minority Counsel Program for the State Bar of Texas for over five years and has been a frequent speaker and active member of the Corporate Counsel Women of Color since its inception. She is an enthusiastic supporter of the Center for Women in Law and an active member of the Austin Black Lawyers Association. She has been quoted in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Austin American Statesman.

Background

Kathy earned her B.A. in International Affairs from The American University in Washington, D.C. and her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law. Kathy enjoys spending time with her sons, hiking, yoga, multiple book clubs, the East Austin art scene, and off-the-beaten-path international travel. She has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro twice and will continue until she reaches Uhuru Peak.
