Effective Talent Strategies for Law Firms

 A comprehensive talent strategy rooted in employee experience can foster growth, improve retention, and drive profitability.

In this episode of The Legal Mastermind Podcast, Calibrate Managing Director Haley Revel discusses implementing effective talent strategies within law firms, creating clear career paths for employees, best practices to enhance the employee experience, and strategies for law firms to engage their workforce.

Revel leads with the importance of creating a full-circle employee experience in order to drive success and profitability.

“When you are developing who you are as a business, because law firms are businesses, what are you doing with your people strategy to really elevate and create that singular opportunity?”

She goes on to discuss the need for law firms to enhance their current talent strategies to extend further to business professionals, who have historically been overlooked. Amid the war for talent, this shift in approach will allow firms to be more adaptable and agile despite market volatility.

“It’s not just about your lawyers, it’s about your lawyers and everyone else as one single group of people who are ultimately driving your firm forward.”

Regarding building an effective talent strategy, Revel asserts that in addition to culture, firms must consider how they articulate expectations across all roles in order to better engage their workforce, establish career paths, and provide professional development opportunities.

“It’s having the right tools and methodologies in place to be able to then leverage what you have communicated beyond a job description and expectations that [employees] can continue to anchor to and assess ‘how am I doing?’ and ‘how am I engaged?’”
