Calibrate ID
Achieving success for clients does not rest solely on the shoulders of the lawyers and billable teams.
It is also driven by an ecosystem of Revenue Enablers™ who play a significant role in delivering client service and achieving revenue growth: HR, IT, Finance, Marketing/BD, Facilities, Administration and more. These professionals may comprise up to 50% of a typical law firm’s total headcount.
But a recent Calibrate poll showed that only 33% of law firms allow business services professionals to participate in their programming for affinity groups, with an additional 46% noting inclusion some of the time. Further, 72% of respondents indicated that they were not included in firm alumni programming.
By failing to address the need for diversity and inclusion enterprise-wide — or as we call it, “Universal Inclusion” — law firms are only partially delivering on the full commitment that clients want and expect.
Fostering an inclusive culture that recognizes the contributions of all of its workforce will enable law firms to leverage the innovation and excellence that a diverse workforce will provide.
Introducing Calibrate ID
Calibrate’s annual research program, Calibrate ID, helps firms evaluate their current rate of diversity (defined in terms of gender, race, LGBTQ+, disability, and military service) and then use that data to fuel firmwide upgrades for maximum inclusivity.
The data-based insights that firms can uncover by participating in Calibrate ID empowers them to create a universally inclusive culture – one that understands, appreciates and celebrates all its workforce – lawyers and business services professionals alike.
The research will allow participating firms to:
- Gain a clear and factual understanding of the current state of diversity in their business services roles, documented in an individual firm report.
- Benchmark the diversity of their business services professionals to other firm participants.
- Lay the foundation of inclusion to unlock the value of diversity within the life cycle of recruiting, promotion and retention of business services employees.
- Participate in a consortium of solution-oriented law firms to solve for results.
