June 13, 2023 – Jennifer Johnson, CEO, Founder of Calibrate, has successfully published her new co-authored book with Sulit Press, Boat Burning for Beginners. The book hit the bestseller list in not one, but two categories on Amazon: Business Mentoring & Coaching as well as Consulting. The book has also been featured in Austin Woman Magazine, alongside an author spotlight for Jennifer.
Boat Burning for Beginners brings together the voices of women who left traditional careers to build businesses aligned with their purpose. The authors share their “boat burning” moments—when retreat options were eliminated and they committed fully to their vision, offering both inspiration and practical guidance for others considering a similar path.
When asked to describe her chapter in the book, Jennifer stated the following.
“I have experienced first-hand – over and over – feeling diminished for being a woman personally and professionally. Trying to have a point of view or exhibit expertise in a professional setting is especially trying. The chapter lays out scenarios I have experienced and the journey I have been on to persevere. What may be surprising to the reader is who the guilty players are…”
All proceeds from book sales go to the benefit of Louder Than Silence, a nonprofit that provides free EMDR therapy and support for survivors on their healing journey.
This past week, the book had it’s official launch party in Austin, Texas, during which Jennifer and her co-authors spoke on a panel and signed book copies for attendees. View highlights of the event through the video below.
